The Company
Sodexo is a worldwide leader in facilities management services and has partnered with Digital Messaging Company to provide and manage digital signage in the United Kingdom.
Sodexo Defence manages a large estate of Junior Ranks Diners and installed digital menu boards across all restaurants, starting with the Merville Barracks in Colchester. Screen management was also a key issue when searching for a digital signage solution.

The Challenge
Sodexo Defence had launched the new ‘pay as you dine’ (PAYD) service, and wanted to drive compliance with other sites to an agreed menu cycle. The digital menu board system would facilitate this, whilst at the same time influencing purchase decisions and increase sales from promotions and higher margin items.
The technology would also improve the visual appearance and aesthetics of the diners, whilst improving efficiencies centrally and on-site from the ease of menu management, including printing and associated costs.

The Solution
Digital Messaging Company delivered a fully managed, end-to-end digital signage solution including 16 Samsung SMART Signage LED screens across 2 diners. The Colchester site uses 3 Portrait entrance screens to display the opening times and showcase daily promotional offers, whilst the other 13 screens are used to display menu content above the counter in the diners.
The onscreen menu display is split with the left hand side showcasing imagery of the dish items and seasonal promotional offers, whilst the right hand side displays the menu specific to that counter, day of the week and time of day. DMC’s installation team worked in tandem with Sodexo’s on-site contractor and project management team to ensure screens were installed and connected to the network in a timely manner.
Through the extensive content management service provided, DMC ensure that the correct menu items and pricing are displayed. Using Signagelive, a cloud based digital signage software solution, DMC controls and deploys the content remotely following installation, saving significant time for Sodexo to focus on delivering their own core services.

The Conclusion
Since the restaurants went live, the feedback on the screens, the content and the service provided by DMC has been extremely positive. Sodexo Defence has since expanded the solution to over 25 diners in the UK and abroad.
